Becoming passive. Letting life happen to you instead of making choices.
But that's not what surrender means at all. 💫 Surrender is the most active, most powerful choice you can make. It's saying "I trust that the universe—that God—is fundamentally good, and therefore I'm going to align my will with that goodness instead of constantly fighting against reality."
When you surrender to what is, instead of exhausting yourself trying to force what you want, something shifts. You stop being at war with your own life. 🕯️ You start to see the opportunities in the difficulties. You start to understand that the detours and delays weren't mistakes—they were exactly what you needed to become the person you're becoming.
My faith teaches me that God's love is not conditional on my performance, my achievements, or my ability to control outcomes. It just is. And when you really let that sink in—when you really believe that you are loved unconditionally—it changes everything about how you move through the world. 💚 You can take risks because failure doesn't threaten your worth. You can be vulnerable because you're not depending on anyone else to make you feel valuable. You can love freely because you're not expecting that love to complete you.
I think about the saints who lived through unimaginable suffering but never lost their peace. That wasn't because they were special or superhuman. It was because they understood something essential: that their circumstances don't determine their worth or their joy. Their connection to something eternal does. 🤍
Surrender doesn't make you weak. It makes you unshakeable. ✨
