The magic of high expectations

Since childhood, many of us have become accustomed to the picture from advertising: a huge table, a house full of guests and the obligatory kiss. When reality does not match this ideal, a feeling of emptiness arises. However, I want to draw your attention to the fact that this feeling is often imposed from the outside. Social pressure makes us believe that being alone during the holidays is wrong. In fact, it's just free time that belongs only to you. This year, I propose to look at the situation differently: this is a rare chance to slow down and listen to your own desires, without adjusting to other people's schedules and moods.

Freedom instead of compromises

Relationships are great, but they always require compromise, especially during the holidays. You need to decide whose parents to go to, what movie to watch, and how long to stay. When your partner is absent, you gain absolute autonomy. I will share with you a thought that seems unusual to many: loneliness in January is the highest degree of freedom. You might sleep in until lunch, go for a long walk alone, or spend the entire evening reading a book that you've been putting off for a long time. This time allows you to restore your internal resource, which often burns out by the end of the year.

Investment in the future

A period without a couple is an ideal time to prepare for a future meeting. But it’s not about searching, it’s about inner fulfillment. When we feel self-sufficient and happy alone with ourselves, we begin to transmit a completely different energy. The January holidays allow you to take stock of your personal results and understand what kind of person you really want to see next year. This is not a lull, but an important pause, after which qualitative changes in life usually occur. Loneliness today is not a finale, but a space for maneuver and an opportunity to enter into a new relationship not from a feeling of need, but from a state of excess.
