I was driving as usual, running errands. The GPS was red, my mood was mediocre, and there was a very long traffic jam ahead. Cars were stopped, no one understood the cause. Some were honking nervously, some were checking their phones, and some had already resigned themselves to their fate.
Ten minutes passed.
15.
20.
I was already mentally cursing at the roadworks, the accident, or the latest "smart guy" who had blocked a lane. But when the traffic jam finally started moving and I got closer to the epicenter… I just had an epiphany.
The cause of the traffic jam was…
goats.
About 50 domestic goats. They crossed the road calmly, measuredly, with dignity. A shepherd walked ahead, completely unperturbed, as if he were leading them not through the center of a city of millions, but along a country path.
The scene was so surreal that the drivers at first grew angry, and then began to laugh. Some were filming, others simply watched silently, realizing that this was the Dnieper, baby.
The city center. Cars, minibuses, office buildings. And in the midst of it all, a herd of goats, dictating the rules of the road.
It's moments like these that you realize: no megacities can cancel life as it is. Sometimes a traffic jam isn't an accident or a roadworks project. Sometimes it's just goats urgently needing to cross the road 🐐
Since then, when stuck in traffic, I try not to get angry right away. Who knows what reason lies ahead this time?
