Gym, smells, and the honest truth about human physiology
id: 10057944

Three days ago I decided to start a new life.

As usual, a new life begins with a gym membership and a promise to myself:
“I will work out regularly.”

The first day started perfectly.

I walked through the gym looking like a woman who is about to become a fitness goddess.

But ten minutes later I discovered something important.

Smells.

A gym is a fascinating place where people gather with very different aromas of life.

Next to me was a man who smelled like he ran a marathon in 2007 and never stopped since.

On the other side a woman used perfume very generously.
So generously that it felt like I was doing squats inside a perfume store.

Between them I tried to breathe.

At one point the trainer said:

“Don’t forget to breathe properly.”

I thought:
that would be easier if the air was neutral.

But the funny thing is…

After thirty minutes none of those smells mattered.

Because I only had one thought left:

why do muscles hurt that I didn’t even know existed.

Sometimes sport teaches important lessons.

Like patience.

And that love can wait.

First you survive the workout. 😄
