That's probably why I started digging in the garden this spring. At first, it seemed a little ridiculous. I bought a couple of small plants, just to plant something near the path. Then a few more. Then a flowerbed plan appeared. And then I caught myself standing in the middle of the yard with a shovel, seriously thinking about the composition of the soil. Hahaha. It sounds unexpected, of course, but there's something surprisingly pleasant about it.
The earth is warm. A little damp.
My hands are dirty.
And my head suddenly becomes quiet.
I planted lavender. It loves sun and light, almost dry soil. It can't be overwatered, otherwise it gets cranky. So, I added sand and small stones to the soil. Let it grow freely and smell like summer.
A little further on, peonies appeared. These flowers take their time. They require patience. First, just a green bush, and then one day – huge soft buds that smell as if spring has decided to stay forever.
Near the old apple tree, I planted a panicle hydrangea. It likes light shade and moist soil. It gradually grows, becoming lush and almost regal.
And along the path, I scattered cosmos seeds. They are the most free-spirited of all flowers! 😍 Thin stems, light petals, and when the wind comes, it seems as if the garden begins to breathe.
Sometimes, when I stand among these tiny shoots, a simple thought comes to me.
We can't always control the world, but we can plant a flower. We can grow a tree. We can make a little space around us a little more beautiful.
And you know what else I realized?
Gardening is an activity ideally done together. Sometimes I imagine a morning. Warm light and a cup of coffee on the terrace. A man nearby, calm, a little sleepy, with pruning shears in his hands. Haha.
We'd go out into the garden. He'd trim the apple tree. I'd check on the hydrangeas.
Then we'd mow the lawn together, argue over where to plant another lavender bush, and laugh, because somehow, holding soil in our hands always makes people a little happier.
There's a simple, quiet, and sweet joy in it.
When someone is nearby. When flowers are all around.
When the morning begins not with a rush, but with the smell of grass and coffee. And suddenly you realize one thing. Sometimes true happiness
looks like a garden, slightly dirty hands, and a person nearby who simply says, "Let's go see what we grew today."😄
