Why do we crave love so much in spring?

Spring seems to press an invisible button within us—and our hearts begin to beat louder. What quietly slumbered under layers of worries, chores, and gray days during the winter suddenly awakens and demands attention. And with the first warm rays of the sun, a strange yet familiar feeling emerges within us: we crave love.
But why spring?
First, it's in the body itself. With increased light and warmth, our biochemistry changes: levels of serotonin and dopamine—the hormones of joy and pleasure—increase. We become more open, energetic, smile more easily, and notice the people around us more often. And suddenly, a casual glance is no longer just a glance—it takes on meaning, anticipation, and possibility.
Second, spring is a symbol of a new beginning. Nature literally shows us an example: everything is renewed, blossoming, reaching for life. And we involuntarily begin to desire the same—renewal in feelings, in relationships, in our own history. I want to leave old disappointments behind and believe that something real lies ahead.
There's another subtle point: in the spring, we go out into the world more often. Walks, meetings, trips, a lighter schedule—all this increases the chances of meeting new people. But it's not just the number of opportunities. Our inner state changes: we become more ready to let someone into our lives.
And finally, spring heightens romance. Long evenings, soft air, the scent of blossoming trees—all this creates a backdrop against which feelings are perceived more vividly. Even those who are usually reserved suddenly begin dreaming of texting late into the night, of first meetings, of that very "spark that flew."
So if you're especially longing for love this spring, you're okay. It's not a coincidence or weakness. It's the soul's natural response to a time when everything around you says, "Live. Feel. Open up."
Perhaps now is the very moment to answer that call. Write that first message. Give conversation a chance. Let someone become a part of your spring.
Because sometimes that's how it all starts—with a little warmth inside and a desire that can't be ignored.
Love to all!
