About how good it is to live alone – and not be ashamed of it
id: 10042569

Living alone is a separate art form. You have to master it, like watercolors or knitting: at first it feels wrong, then you get into it and realize it suits you.
I have my own rules. Music at any hour while respecting the neighbors. Dishes can wait until morning that's my choice. The living room sofa is simultaneously a bed, workspace, dining table on weekends, and place for reflection. The fridge opens as many times as I need.

Solitude isn't always sad. Solitude can be quiet and productive. It can be creative when at 11pm an idea suddenly hits you and you spend two hours drawing or writing, and no one says "go to sleep." It can be free like that ice cream morning.
I do want to share my life with someone someday but not because I have to, or because "being alone is scary". But because I'll want to. That's an important difference.

For now ice cream for breakfast, music loud, and three cats who ask nothing of me 😄
