New year's eve with a tv series and olivier salad
id: 10057915

Let me tell you about last New Year's)) No, I wasn't sitting alone in tears — that's a different story, not mine. I was sitting alone with a glass of wine, a bowl of Olivier salad, and the best season of a series I'd been putting off for eight months "for later." "Later" arrived on December 31st at 10 p.m. You know what's strangest? It was one of the calmest holidays in my life. No negotiations about where to go. No compromises about meeting arrangements. No "you know my parents will be hurt." Just me, the couch, the salad — and complete freedom to choose what to watch.
At midnight I went out to the balcony with my glass. Fireworks were everywhere. Somewhere people were laughing, somewhere people were yelling "Happy New Year!" with such force as if trying to reach the next neighborhood. I raised my glass to the emptiness and said: "All right. Let's see what you've got." The year, by the way, turned out to be eventful. Not always easy, but eventful.

I don't romanticize solitude. I'll say honestly: celebrating a holiday with someone you love — is better! But celebrating it alone — is not a catastrophe)) It's just a different format, with different advantages.

For example: you don't have to share the salad 🥗
