I have never needed a complicated philosophy for life. I have had the fields, the seasons, and God. That has always been enough to understand what matters.
People talk a great deal these days about finding themselves. About journeys and growth and becoming. And I do not say those things are wrong. But I think sometimes people search very far for something that was never hidden. You find yourself in the work of your hands. In the prayer you say before sleep. In the way you treat someone who can offer you nothing in return. π
That is who you are. Not the version you perform for others. Not the words you choose carefully. What you do quietly, alone, without applause — that is your truest character.
The land taught me that. You cannot charm the soil. It simply responds to what you actually give it.
I carry that lesson into every part of my life. Into how I speak. Into what I choose. Into what I refuse to pretend.
