There is a kind of waiting i was taught to honour.

I was raised inside it. 🌾

But there is another kind of waiting I've let grow beside it, and this one is not faithful — it is fearful. It's the waiting that says: not yet, not until you're sure, not until every doubt has been answered and every question has been put to rest. And I've realised, standing in my own quiet life, that certainty almost never arrives before the step. It arrives because of the step.

The women I've watched move through life with grace — my grandmother, the older women at our church, the ones with steady eyes — none of them waited until they felt ready. They prayed, they gathered themselves, and they moved. Faith, after all, is not the absence of doubt. It is choosing to walk anyway. πŸ™

I think I already know the answer. I'm just not done sitting with it yet.
