Since my childhood I adore traditions..I started to learn the Christmas traditions, and I want to tell you.

Of course it will not be a secret If I say that Christmas is a very family holiday.

Ukrainian traditions for Christmas are closely connected with the traditions of the New Year: the symbol of this holiday is also the decorated Christmas tree with the Bethlehem star on the top. On branches of a tree for children hang all kinds of sweets, and under the Christmas tree - they put gifts. In the olden times, at midnight, everyone exchanged gifts, congratulated each other and make wishes. Christmas among fortunetellers. Yes that's right! Unmarried girls wondered at their future fiance. ))))Maybe I'm fortunetellers at my future bridegroom this year.

Another tradition of the people is the tradition of tolerating this day, forgiving each other's grievances free and involuntary, in order to fully experience the joy of life.

Christmas dinner begins with the appearance of the first star in the sky. Serves 12 dishes - according to the number of the apostles of Christ. The main one is "kutya".

These are our traditions in Ukraine. This is certainly not all. But now you know a little about Ukrainian traditions for Christmas.
