If you think life in Italy is just pasta, the sea, and beautiful sunsets, then... you're almost right 😄 But there's one thing no one warns you about: even going out to buy bread here can turn into a mini-performance.
For example, there's a bakery near my house where the owner always pretends he's the main character in a romantic movie. He doesn't just sell croissants; he "offers them to fate." One time, I came in to buy bread in sweatpants and a bun, and he looked at me as if I'd just stepped off the Milan runway. I even checked to make sure I hadn't forgotten my crown. LOL
And Italian conversations... Oh, that's a whole other art form. Here, no one just says, "How are you?" Here, first they discuss the weather, then the quality of the coffee, then your life, then your grandmother's life, and only then – why did you even come here 😄
But my favorite thing is how easily people can flirt here, even without intending to. A compliment about a smile? The norm. A wink in line? Almost a formal greeting.
Sometimes I feel like Italy isn't a country, but a state of mind: a bit of chaos, a lot of emotion, and the absolute certainty that everything will be beautiful, even if you just dropped spaghetti on your shirt.
And you know what? I like it. Because life is too short to be serious all the time. Especially when there's coffee, the sea, and someone who can smile as if they know a little secret 😉
