And about cheating? That's more painful. One of my friends caught her boyfriend with another woman. He cried afterwards, saying, "It didn't mean anything, I only love you." And you know, she almost believed him. Not because he's a good actor, but because he himself didn't seem to understand why he did it. He simply enjoyed the novelty, the fact that someone else was looking at him. Like a child who reaches for someone else's toy, even if there are ten like it at home.
I'm not making excuses for them, no. I'm just trying to understand. I think the main problem is that many men don't know how to speak honestly about their desires and problems. They're afraid of appearing weak, afraid of hurting us with the truth, afraid of being alone. So they take the easy way out: lying, hiding, and if they're really desperate, cheating, just to avoid having to deal with relationship issues right now.
