...until the first work Monday arrives.
Before the move, everything seems beautiful and inspiring. New streets, new people, new opportunities, a new life. After the move, you suddenly realize that even buying ordinary bread can turn into a small quest. Especially if the shop assistant speaks a language that, for now, resembles the soundtrack of a sci-fi movie. The first months in a new place are like a computer game without a map or clues, where no one explains the rules:
💕You don't know where to buy groceries cheaper.
💕You don't understand how transportation works.
💕It's hard to find a good doctor, hairdresser, or plumber.
💕Even a trip to the bank can sometimes cause more anxiety than a school exam.
In moments like these, the question arises: what can you rely on?
In fact, the first thing to rely on is the understanding that difficulties are completely normal. Many people make the mistake of expecting adaptation to take a few weeks.
But the human psyche doesn't work that way. The brain needs time to accept new rules. New habits don't form overnight.
A sense of home doesn't come on schedule either. Sometimes it seems like everyone around you is perfectly settled, and only one person is experiencing difficulties, but this is an illusion.
Almost everyone who has moved to another country has experienced confusion, loneliness, and the desire to be surrounded by something familiar and understandable, even if just for one evening.
Another important support is small victories. Very often, people expect great success, a good job, a large circle of friends, and perfect language skills.
But life isn't built on big events – it's built on little things:
Today I managed to resolve the paperwork issue on my own. Tomorrow I managed to figure out transportation. A week later, I found my favorite cafe. A month later, I found someone I enjoyed talking to.
So gradually, a strange city begins to feel like home.
It's important to remember one more thing. You don't have to like a new country right away. Sometimes you feel guilty if you don't feel delighted from the very first days. But that's normal. Love for a place rarely develops instantly. Even relationships between people usually begin not with great love, but with gradual acquaintance.
It works much the same way with cities and countries.
What else can you rely on? First and foremost, on yourself and your loved ones.
It sounds trite, but moving shows how much stronger you are than you previously thought.
Each new issue resolved becomes proof that you can cope.
That's why moving is considered one of life's most difficult challenges.
It tests patience, flexibility, courage, and the ability to start over.
But there's good news.
After a few years, many remember the most difficult days with a smile.
