The loyalty test
id: 10058567

Everyone can promise it, but only a few practice it. And the funny thing is, it's best tested during the World Cup.

The World Cup is the perfect lie detector. When emotions are at their peak, people's masks fall off. You can immediately see who's ready to go all the way, and who'll give up at the first missed goal.

Look at football fans. A man can change jobs, countries, social circles, and even his wife. But he'll never betray his team. The national team can be losing 4-0, playing like a paralyzed snail, and evoking only rage—but he'll still watch the rest of the match in that damn shirt. Why? Because it's his choice. A conscious and irrevocable one.

Now let's apply this to relationships.

Loyalty to a woman isn't about pompous toasts or bouquets of flowers "for show." The world will always be full of temptations: younger "players," more glamorous covers, and quick flirtations. There's always the temptation to switch to someone else's flashy "stage." But a strong man differs from an impulsive teenager in that he chooses his woman again and again. Every single day.

In sports, as in life, loyalty isn't tested by finals and cups. It's tested by routine and boredom. There's just an ordinary, gray day. And if you stay by her side on that day, you're in the game.

The World Cup is just a flash in the pan for a month. But loyalty is a long-term game. And that's all that matters.
