The tournament was opened by the hosts, Mexico. The atmosphere in Mexico City was incredible. Shakira performed before the match, and a real battle immediately ensued on the field.

The Mexicans won decisively thanks to goals from Julian Quiñones in the 9th minute and Raúl Jiménez in the 67th.
But the match was memorable for more than just the goals.

But Curaçao still made history.
Livano Comenencia scored Curaçao's first goal at the World Cup in the 21st minute. The crowd greeted the moment with a standing ovation.
Following that, Germany scored six more goals. Kai Havertz scored two.
It's ironic that the match ended with a 7:1 score - just like Germany's semifinal against Brazil at the 2014 World Cup.
🇸🇪 Sweden crushes, Japan escapes
Groups E and F are already boasting a high number of goals and plenty of intrigue.
Sweden vs. Tunisia - 5:1
The Swedes played a very powerful game. Yacine Ayari opened the scoring with a beautiful long-range strike in the 7th minute.
Tunisia managed to reduce the deficit to 2:1 before the break, but Sweden dominated the second half.
Viktor Gyökeres and company literally tore apart the opponent's defense.
Netherlands vs. Japan - 2:2
One of the best matches of the tournament so far.
Virgil van Dijk gave the Dutch the lead, and it seemed the "Oranges" would easily prevail.
But in the 88th minute, Daichi Kamada saved Japan with a precise deflected shot, earning his team a crucial draw.
🇺🇸 The other favorites also started brightly.
USA vs. Paraguay - 4:1
Mauricio Pochettino's team got off to a strong start and completely dominated in Los Angeles.
South Korea vs. Czech Republic - 2:1
The Koreans snatched victory late in the match, with Lee Kang-in becoming the true hero.
Brazil vs. Morocco - 1:1
The Moroccans once again proved that their previous success was no fluke. They skillfully contained Brazil's stellar attack.
Ivory Coast vs. Ecuador - 1:0
Amad Diallo's only goal in the 90th minute gave the African team victory.
