Between lectures and reality
id: 10058617
I don’t have a dramatic story.

No hospital shifts.

No emergency scenes.

Just lectures, deadlines, late nights, and the kind of routine that slowly teaches you what your body can and cannot tolerate.

---

Most people my age treat health like something flexible.

Something you can “fix later” when life gets less busy.

But life doesn’t really get less busy.

It just gets louder.

---

I’ve seen what happens in small ways first.

Friends skipping meals because they’re “too busy.”

People sleeping four hours and calling it normal.

Everyone running on caffeine and motivation like it’s a sustainable system.

It isn’t.

It just looks fine… until it doesn’t.

---

There’s a pattern I’ve started noticing.

People don’t usually crash suddenly.

They drift.

They ignore small signs because they’re manageable.

Tired becomes normal.

Stress becomes background noise.

Headaches become something you just live with.

And slowly, they stop noticing themselves at all.

---

I don’t think health is about perfection.

I think it’s about respect.

Respecting your limits before they become problems.

Respecting your body enough to not constantly test how far it can be pushed.

Respecting rest as something necessary, not optional.

---

I’ve stopped admiring “I didn’t sleep at all but I still showed up” energy.

It sounds impressive.

It usually isn’t.

It’s just delayed exhaustion with better branding.

---

What actually impresses me is consistency.

People who eat properly even when they’re busy.

People who sleep without guilt.

People who know when to stop instead of waiting for burnout to decide for them.

That kind of discipline is quiet.

But it lasts.

---

I’ve also learned something about myself.

I don’t function well when I ignore my body.

I get distracted.

I get irritable.

I lose focus faster than I like to admit.

So I stopped pretending I can outsmart basic needs.

I can’t.

No one really can.

---

Health isn’t a project I’m trying to perfect.

It’s just something I maintain while I live my life.

Like showing up to class.

Like submitting assignments.

Like doing the small things that keep everything from falling apart later.

---

I don’t think this is extreme.

I think it’s just honest.

We all know what happens when we ignore ourselves for too long.

We just don’t like to think about it while everything still feels manageable.

---

So I don’t wait for things to get bad.

I adjust early.

I rest when I need to.

I eat properly even when I’m busy.

I slow down before I’m forced to.

Not because I’m overly careful.

Because I’ve learned what it feels like when you don’t.

---

And honestly, that’s enough for me.

Not perfection.

Just awareness.

Just enough respect for my own body to not treat it like it’s replaceable.

Because it isn’t.
