Who said that after 50, summer no longer smells of love?

August is like the last slice of your favorite pie. You can already feel the sweetness fading, yet you still want to prolong the pleasure. That’s exactly where I am right now: standing on the threshold of autumn, asking myself am I really going to let this summer slip by like a heavy suitcase with no handle?

I had so hoped this season would be a turning point. Not for the sake of a vacation or a tan, but for the feeling of being needed by someone. To have someone say, Tati, let’s do something crazy this Saturday let’s drive out of town to find the best watermelon. Or simply, I missed you."

But summer is melting away, and I’m still dining in solitary splendor, slicing tomatoes for one. You know that strange feeling when you’re over fifty, established as a mother, a professional, a woman with a wealth of life experience yet every evening you catch yourself thinking that there’s no one there to embrace your victories.

I am incredibly tired of being just a checkbox on a to do list. I want to be a person in someone’s life. I’m sick of pushing my dreams off to next summer. There have been too many of those already. I want something concrete. I want us to make plans together for September, for New Year’s, for life.

To me, August feels like a warning: time waits for no one. But I believe there is a man out there somewhere, also standing by a window, thinking Maybe Tati is the chance encounter that will become my destiny?

I am ready. I am open. I am not drama; I am the warm August breeze, waiting to be shared between two people. Reach out. Let’s make these last warm days unforgettable. Are you ready for this?
