I can understand a person by how they talk about others.

If a man talks about his ex and says, "She was a terrible person," I almost never ask what exactly happened.

I'm more interested in how he tells the rest of the story.

Because a person can say a lot about themselves, even when they think they're talking about someone else.

If a waiter made a mistake with your order, how do you talk to them? If a friend let you down, how do you talk about them? If someone turns out to be weaker than you, do you laugh at them or try to help?

I think a person's character is best revealed not when they need to impress, but when they don't have anything to prove to anyone.

That's why I love observing the little things.

Sometimes one phrase says more about a person than three hours of conversation.

And yes, I can smile and calmly drink coffee while a little investigation is going on inside me. 🕵️‍♀️😂
