When a 50-year-old man with a pot belly and a mortgage chooses a 20-year-old princess, he's not looking for love. He's looking for a mirror in which his wrinkles aren't yet visible. He's looking for someone who will bat her eyelashes and say "wow" to his every banal thought. He doesn't need an equal; he needs an appreciative spectator.

Why is this so infuriating? Because it's cowardice. You'll have to talk to someone your own age. "I'm the breadwinner, you keep quiet" won't fly with her. She sees right through him: his midlife crisis, his fears, and the fact that he can't rise above his weight anymore. But a 20-year-old... sincerely believes in his success. She's easy to manipulate. It's easy to impress her with a dinner at a restaurant.

But you know what's funniest? These men don't understand one thing: in a couple of years, the girl will grow up. She'll see the world, understand her worth, and go to someone who isn't afraid to stand on her own level. And the guy will be left alone, looking for the next young lady.
