I wanted restaurant food this weekend, but I couldn't bear to spend a fortune on delivery. 🐸 I thought, what's so hard about it? I have nori sheets, I have rice at home, I bought fresh fish and cream cheese at the nearest supermarket. So, I decided I'd whip up the perfect Philadelphia myself, just like a chef! I laid out a bamboo mat, cooked special rice according to instructions found online, and carefully seasoned it with vinegar.
And then the real circus show began! The rice sticks to my fingers like glue, the nori tears at the slightest touch, and the roll refuses to roll tightly and falls apart right in my hands. 🙈 When I tried to cut the resulting sausage into pretty pieces, it all just disintegrated across the cutting board into some kind of incomprehensible mess. The whole kitchen is covered in rice, my hands are covered in nori, and my mood is at its lowest!
I sighed, laughed at my naivety, transferred it all to a large, deep bowl, generously drizzled it with soy sauce, sprinkled it with sesame seeds, and simply ate it with a spoon. I called this dish a "lazy sushi bowl"! The taste was exactly the same, but my nerves were much better, and there were way fewer dishes to wash. 😋 I've decided I won't be a chef, but I definitely give myself an A+ for originality. 🍣🍣
