That little bar you stumbled upon by chance one evening. A stranger you struck up a conversation with on the street. A wrong turn you took. A funny incident at the airport. Or that moment when the rain suddenly started pouring, but instead of looking for a taxi, you just kept walking.
Perhaps that is precisely why the most memorable trips can’t be fully planned out. There has to be some room left for the unexpected.
I actually think a good travel companion can change your entire impression of a country. With one person, even an ordinary walk turns into an adventure; with another, the most beautiful city in the world feels like nothing more than a stage set.
