🎃 A holiday of secrets and mysticism!
Halloween originated over 2,000 years ago. Its history traces back to the Celtic peoples, who celebrated Samhain-a festival marking the end of summer and the beginning of winter. People believed that on the night between October 31st and November 1st, the spirits of the dead could return to the world of the living. To scare them away, people would wear frightening costumes and light fires.
🍬 But why do children ask for candy?...
This tradition dates back many centuries. People once believed that on Halloween night, the souls of the deceased could return to Earth. Consequently, the poor would go from house to house asking for food in exchange for prayers offered for the souls of the dead.
Over time, this evolved into asking for candy...
Do you enjoy this holiday?
To me, it feels quite special the fact that, after so many years, people still keep these traditions alive... though, unfortunately, less so than before.
