“Everyone suffers at least one bad betrayal in their lifetime. It’s what unites us. The trick is not to let it destroy your trust in others when that happens. Don’t let them take that from you.”
― Sherrilyn Kenyon, Invincible
Betrayal is not the most pleasant topic to discuss… But if we keep silence, we will not avoid it at all. That would be so great if betrayal disappears from our lives and everyone stays loyal, faithful, sincere. How to avoid betrayal? How to know that your partner won’t cheat on you?
There is no guarantee and no “loyalty” insurance for that, but there are several lifehacks which will help you in the future.
First of all, be sincere with yourself and your partner. And don’t forget to remind your partner that trust issues are really important to you. Love is a hard challenge, and if you do really love, please, follow some rules.
Discuss with your partner what is good and what is bad for you in relationships. Sometimes a couple can find out that both of them can have lovers and it is ok for both of them! Or they can find a compromise: “Kiss is not betrayal”.
Be attentive and careful. Or course, you should feel this special balance between total trust and paranoia. Especially when you have just started relationships. Do not check your partner’s phone, but you can ask about friends, family and plans of your partner. Sometimes a partner can be a good person with very crazy and spoiled friends who like to party every night till the dawn.
Don’t be silly. If you notice something strange, don’t kill your brain with odd thoughts. Just ask your partner: “Dear, I worry about *some issue*. Can you please tell me why you didn’t come home last night.”
So the main rule how to escape betrayal is not to be too naïve and too paranoiac. Hold the balance.
Trust, but verify.
