Mail Order Bride Story and Advice
id: 414159

My name is Gregg. You may notice that it's a last name instead of a first. This is because I was named after my great grandmother who by today's terms would be known as a Mail Order Bride. My great grandfather came over to America in the late 1800s and established himself here. As was the custom for some he sent back to County Cork to a Matchmaker to find him a wife. Over the course of time she came to America and they wed. Nowadays we have tech to send letters faster then two week or a month or more it took back then. Just by sending one letter a day to a person for one month we have done what took up to a year back then. So it's the same process just faster. However, we do have more option with this and other websites like it. This process of Mail Order as we call it has been around for thousands of years by diffront names. Either the men were sent to other tribes to be married or the women as we know it today. Unlike back then you got whatever you got. Like it or lump it. That didn't matter With the system we have now we can find out if we have the same goals, opinions, beliefs, ethics, sense of humor and all those other things that can cause conflict in a relationship. It also removes the first date or blind date problems. Something might have happened to mess up the works and both of you won't want to bother with each other ever again. COMMUNICATION: This has been thrown around a lot nowadays. I'm one of the many people who have on the net sites. Think of it like this, "You're sitting at the kitchen table talking with the other person". The whole business of tweeting one sentence doesn't tell the other person much of anything. You have hours to compose your letter to someone else. Tell them about what you did on you're last vacation, something that was funny when you saw or heard it, your philosophy on life and whatever else that comes into your mind that seems interesting or would let the other person know you better. I f you have a camera phone that can record videos then use an app and make short videos to allow that person to experience a bit of your life like drive to the store edited down to highlights. Adding a photo of a picture you took or a picture from Google images can help out as well. SCHEDULE: Set up a schedule if needed for letters to be sent and replied to with the other person. This type of thing helps with building trust between each other. It shows that their letters matter to you and there letters matter to them. Also that you are reliable and respectful to the other. ATTENTION: Make sure you read through the letters well and reply to the key points. You may want to take your time or go over it a couple of times to make sure you know what's said so you don't insult someone by accident. HONESTY: You have to be honest with yourself as well as that other person you're writing letters to. Tech has a way of causing a disconnect because it's words and images on a videoscene. We can forget that that's a thinking, feeling human being on the other side who'll read our world. Empathy is for the compassionate. If you aren't here looking for a spouse there's other sites like "plenty of fish" where you can have pointless chats up with others and have meaningless dates. Well, this is just me piping up on this subject of Mail Order Brides. It's up to you dear reader, to make up your own mind on this subject.
