“He loves me just the way I am”- these are the sweetest words that conquered Bridget Jones’s heart and these are the words every one of us dreams to hear them from our man.
Many of gentlemen correspond with the Ukrainian ladies with substantial age difference so a question which comes to often to mind is “Whether she would love me in 20 years from now?” Have you watched a new show “Modern Family” which won an Emmy award in 2010? In this show Jay and Gloria come from different countries, they have about 20+ years age difference, and they make an amazing couple with all their differences. So when Jay asks his young hot wife the question: “Would you love me in 20 years from now”, Gloria’s reply is “And would you love me if I gain 100 pounds?”
Do I think that a happy relationship is possible for a couple with 20+ age difference? Yes, I do. Would it be more challenging than say a 10 years difference? Yes, it might. Every relationship is different and every one of them has its own challenges. Because we are different, because we come from different cultures and from different upbringings, because we are men and women. But this is what makes these relationships interesting and exciting, this is why we want them.
We want to be loved – now when we are young but also when we get older, when we are slim and when we get… curvy. Women adore being loved. I believe Ukrainian women and Western gentlemen have all the basics to be happy together – Ukrainian ladies have elegance, care, strong family values and endless love to give and Western gentlemen are devoted and caring, they make great husbands and parents.
So how can we be loved for who we are? They say that a person can change up to 15% - can get a nicer haircut, new clothes etc., but that these things are only temporarily. You cannot be at your best 100% of the time – you could get tired, ill, upset and your partner will see you for who you really are. But the most important thing is that this is OK. In Ukrainian culture there is a saying that you are being liked for your advantages and are being loved for your shortcomings. So the best dating tip is to be yourself, your true self for her.
· Be honest about who you are. There is no point of publishing incorrect information about your age, weight, height etc., just because “everybody says I look 7 years younger” or “I will be able to lose weight by the time of the meeting”. If you are looking for a sincere relationship and so does your partner, lack of truth will do nothing but harm and although winning short term you would lose in the long run.
· Although it is a good idea to dress up for a date, in case of long-distance relationship you have a chance to make more principal changes – like work out, keep to a healthy diet etc. Let her notice how attractive you are.
· Keep your relationship fun and exciting every day – with flirty e-cards and thoughtful compliments or gifts !
· Play on your strengths. You are a very interesting person as you are so if you like nature and outdoors, tell her about your hikes, if you are a great cook, share your recipes with her, if you are a great parent, tell her about the great times you spend with your kids.
· Ukrainian men tend to play “macho” style, so if you act thoughtfully and be caring as it is in your nature, you would stand out right away.
· Sharing your interests is one of the essential parts of a relationship – she likes comedies and you like science fiction, she likes swimming and you like skiing. Alternating the activities and doing what each of you like is one of the ways to go. But having your own space and your own interest is fine too.
· Come to Ukraine. It might seem like a distant country and a little bit scary as everything unknown, but in fact it is only in a 10 hours flight from the North America and only 3 hours flight from Great Britain.
