Svyatogorsk is located in the National Park "Holy Mountains", near the border of three regions - Donetsk, Kharkiv and Luhansk, and is the northernmost city of Donetsk region. There is Sviatohirsk Cave Monastery opposite the town on the right bank of the Seversky Donets River.

Svyatogorie is one of the most amazing places in Ukraine. In May 1887, Anton Chekhov wrote that the place is extremely beautiful and original: monastery is on the bank of the Donets River at the base a huge white rock in which, crowding together and hanging over each other, piled gardens, ancient oaks and pines.
