Dear reader, I believe that you have a curious mind and you like to know about new things. Just like I do. I would like to discuss a widespread wedding tradition today. Marriage proposal…A man should give a wedding ring to a woman and ask her if she wants to become his wife. Is it an old tradition or a new one? I made a research and found something. This tradition became popular and well known at the start of the 20 century. It seems that it's not an old tradition. Giving a wedding ring became a popular thing very fast because it was very romantic thing. The most popular material for wedding rings became gold. But in 1930s platinum became more popular than gold. Diamond was the most popular gem which was inserted into a wedding ring. But as we all know time flows fast and fashion change fast too. In the 1960s appeared a new fashion. The more and more multicolored gems were inserted into rings. The most popular gems were ruby, sapphire, and emerald. By the way, Princess Diana had a wedding ring which was covered with lots of sapphires. In 20 years, fashion changed again and diamond became the most popular gem again. What did happen at the start of the 21 century? Appeared a lot of wedding rings with 3 gems inserted into it. Why 3? 3 gems represent past, present, and future. What about our days? Our days are well known for a huge amount of different wedding rings. Any person may change any ring. So we may say that modern people have more freedom of choice and it's great I think! Wedding ring is not just a piece of metal. It’s a symbol. And many women want to receive it from a special man. I believe that there are lots of men who want to give it to the beloved one. Symbol of love on the finger, pure love in heart and eyes which shine with happiness. I dream about it! What about you?
