Sugarcoating, deception, lies & hypocrisy
id: 383239

The English language has many ways to say the same thing: usually by sugarcoating, deceiving, lying or diplomacy. I confess I only know a few words & phrases in Russian so I do not know how well this use of words translates. (Learning is something I would like to do from my wife if & when I may find her.) You may be thinking what are these terms I have used for examples: sugarcoating = to make sweeter, deception = to give incorrect perception, lie = blatantly tell untruth, diplomacy = what politicians do, hypocrisy = saying one thing but doing the opposite. Bottom line is they all mean the same thing: not telling the truth. So I ask you which is better, to hear the truth or a different version not true? Sometimes you may wish to spare another's feelings, does that make sugarcoating wrong? If it leads one on to abuse their feelings, yes. Planning a surprise, should you deceive the intended? Usually happens that way. To protect a loved one from harm, is lying acceptable? Widely debated. Making a knife in the back sound like it's good for you... diplomacy! Pretending to be altruistic to benefit others when your only real motivation is greed... hypocrisy! Is softening the blow a good enough reason to be untrue? I submit you decide for yourself but in truth.!.
