Where I live is one of the most expensive places to live in Canada. It's been called "paradise" by people who have, and still are, moving here from eastern Canada, because of the weather, our seasons are not too hot or too cold. But the cost of a modest three bedroom home will reach a million dollars in a couple of years, if not sooner. And housewives have not existed here for decades. Couples, married or living together with or without children, cannot live on one income. Women want to and have to work outside the home. That's a reality for Ukrainian women who dream of marrying and moving to a foreign country like Canada.
