At Christmas, the atmosphere of goodness is in the air, people gather at family tables, give each other presents, say beautiful toasts and spend time with pleasure, relaxing and enjoying the moment. As for the holiday, the Ukrainian traditions for Christmas are closely connected with the traditions of the New Year: the symbol of this holiday is a decorated Christmas tree with a star at the top. In the morning on Christmas it is customary to go home with a star, singing carols. As soon as midnight arrives from January 6 to 7, it is necessary to open the windows and doors for Christmas to enter the house. At Christmas, it is customary to cook 12 dishes. Also, there must be a candle on the table on Christmas day, and paterfamilias should light it. Unmarried guys and unmarried girls should not sit on the corner of the table, otherwise they will be left without a couple. Another folk tradition on this day is the tradition of reconciling, forgiving each other's grievances. Twelve days after Christmas until January 17 are called holy days or yuletide.
