I can certainly understand being offended by that man's choice of terminology to describe SOME women. First, chat is not a good format to explain complicated subjects and feelings. Now, using the word "garbage" was not appropriate but I suspect that if the women he met where he lives had only one of those habits or traits he would not have such strong feelings. Most men can tolerate some imperfections, but very few want a woman who has a large collection of them. Women are just as guilty as men when it comes to only describing their better qualities and forgetting to mention the not-so-attractive ones. No one is perfect but we all have redeeming characteristics to balance against our thinning hair or flabby belly. Try to look beyond his actual words and understand what else he was saying. I am not giving him an "out" but it's possible that you just caught him on a bad day and his frustration with other things you did not know about affected the way he expressed himself in your chat.
