Re: "men, what's wrong with you?"

I can certainly understand being offended by that man's choice of terminology to describe SOME women. First, chat is not a good format to explain complicated subjects and feelings. That is why I will not use it for those things. Now, using the word "garbage" was not appropriate but I suspect that if the women he met where he lives had only one of those habits or traits he would not have such strong feelings. Most men can tolerate some imperfections, but very few want a woman who has a large collection of them. Women are just as guilty as men when it comes to only describing their better qualities and forgetting to mention the not-so-attractive ones. No one is perfect but we all have redeeming characteristics to balance against our thinning hair or flabby belly. He generalized but he did point out some of the most common issues that online dating presents, and also why it is important to physically meet someone before handing over the keys to your heart and soul. For example, for most of my life I did not judge a woman because she had children from a previous relationship. I have enough love for another man's child and always tried to be a father-figure to those kids. But. If a woman has children from multiple failed relationships it does make me look very closely at her ability to make good decisions in the rest of her life. Does she change jobs every few months too? Problem. Does she try to wear clean clothes, or does she show signs of not trying to be attractive to a man when they meet? Problem. Is she poor because she doesn't differentiate between buying necessities and buying on a whim? Problem. Does she (or he) seem to have a history of going from one relationship to the next without a break? Problem. We all have things from our past that have taught us painful lessons about relationships. Try to look beyond his actual words and understand what else he was saying. I am not giving him an "out" but it's possible that you just caught him on a bad day and his frustration with other things you did not know about affected the way he expressed himself in your chat.
