When he was young, he decided that he wanted to get married. But only the perfect woman would do. So he looked around his village. None of the women were deemed good enough. He looked in the next village — still nothing. They were too big, too small, too short, too tall, too quiet, too loud, too submissive, too independent, too pale, too dark, too smart, too dumb, there was always something. He didn't like the smile, the voice, the way she cut the vegetables. It was never good enough. So he proposed to nobody and kept on traveling. From village to town to city and eventually, across the border, he searched. But still, none of the women were good enough for him. He was not about to settle for anything less than perfect, of course. So with his nose in the air, he would leave as quickly as he'd arrived. This went on for many more years, and his demands became more and more. Until one day, he was an older man telling his story to a group of young travelers along the way. They asked him surprised if he'd honestly never found a woman who was good enough. Oh yes, he replied, at long last I found her. She was everything I ever wanted, the absolute perfect woman. She could have given me everything I wanted and make my life complete. So what happened? They urged. The old man sighed, "She wanted the perfect man."
