Building a preparedness bag

Building a preparedness bag! OK this is an odd thing to put on an international dating site but the World has changed and we all live in uncertain times! In the USA preparedness bags, bug out bags, get home bags and Inch (I’m Never Coming Home) bags are very popular they can be seen on many popular video streaming internet channels. Although in the US they have extreme weather events so are more prepared but having a preparedness bag is useful in every country in case of natural disasters or civil unrest.

So imagine something has gone wrong and you need to leave your home in minutes so you would not have time to pack essential belongings and paperwork (birth certificate/proof of identity etc.)
I recommend Famous US survival instructor David Canterbury’s 10 Cs of Sustainability this means 10 categories not 10 items! Ladies check out Survival Lilly she is one tough lady and it’s good to see survival from a woman’s perspective and not an Ex Special Forces soldier.

My personal recommendations are the following.

1/ A stainless steel water bottle or steel nesting cup that fits a Nalgene style water bottle or a US GI style metal canteen cup if you can get a lid great! If not use some baking foil to cover. This is important item as boiling water for a 2 minute rolling boil makes water safe to drink and its good to have something light weight.

2/ A builders Tarpaulin (these are those blue plastic sheets with metal grommets (holes) at each corner, even better is a US GI style Poncho this has 2 uses 1, a Wet weather waterproof item to cover yourself and it can be used as a Tarp shelter like a lean to shelter or a A frame pup tent!

3/ Flashlight/Torch with spare batteries or buy a wind up style flashlight some have radios and a way to charge phones.

4/ 2 X Survival/Space blankets and a Fleece/Wool Blanket (sleeping bags can be bulky and only 1 person can use it)

5/ Store bought water bottles 2 to 3 bottles o0r depending of the size of the bottles.

6/ Fire kit matches and 2 X lighters with a few candles and cotton wool balls or make up pads with some petroleum jelly/lip balm, alcohol sanitizer is also flammable and when using twigs always use dead standing dry if it doesn’t crack throw it back it’s too damp to burn!

7/ Food a plastic jar of peanut butter is the ultimate survival food, energy bars, jerky meats, noodles, white rice and bullion cubes and dehydrated soup sachets along with tea bags coffee sachets in water proof containers with sugar or plastic bottle of honey (cover sticky fluids in a sealed plastic food bag in case of leakage) and hard candies these item can boost morale. Add a metal spoon plastic can get greasy.

8/ Spare clothing avoid cotton socks and underwear do not use cotton against the skin and use wool socks and sports underwear.

9/ Cutting tool a penknife or multi tool even better a cheap Mora Bushcraft knife (1 model has a fire steel built in to the handle)

10/ Leather gloves to protect hands and to lift cooking pots of a fire, eye protection clear safety glasses/ sun glasses, dust mask or N95 mask, wide brimmed sun hat and if you can find a mosquito head net.

11/ Last but most least a Personal First Aid Kit and your Medication.

But most of all pack what you think is important to you, every one has different priorities and live in different climates. Use a bag that is comfortable to carry and the size is up to you don't expect to put on a 100 litre Military Bergen like a Royal/US Marine.

I hope you have found some of this information useful stay safe keep safe!
