If you have ever given someone flowers or received flowers, you have probably heard about the language of flowers. Every flower has a meaning behind it so it can be important to know what a certain flower means before you give a bouquet of them to someone! Sometimes, even a different colour of the same flower can hold a different meaning!
For example, pink carnations mean gratitude and are mostly associated with Mother’s Day. Red carnations symbolise deep love for someone, and white ones—purity and luck.
Hyacinths are very beautiful flowers so you might be tempted to give them to someone you admire. But be careful with the colour. Purple hyacinths mean forgiveness. Yellow hyacinths are not often given as gifts as they symbolise jealousy! And white hyacinths carry the meaning of praying for someone so they can be given to someone who is going through a rough patch to let them know you are praying for their soul.
You probably don’t know this but orange tulips connote deep understanding, appreciation, and sympathy between two people. Purple tulips represent royalty so you know what to do if you think your special someone is a Queen ;) Pink tulips mean good wishes. Blue tulips are the go-to if you want to tell the other person that you are loyal and trustworthy!
And it’s not hard to remember—red flowers almost always are a symbol of deep love.
Now, do YOU speak the language of flowers?
