The most important advice I have ever received was: "Treat yourself as a prize." It's strange: I can't remember who and where passed on this wisdom to me. This advice is firmly embedded in my head, and all these years I have been quoting it to those single friends who are struggling with romantic relationships. The whole point is not that you should be arrogant or behave like a person of royal blood. But if you act as if you have value in this world, others will perceive you the same way. It means letting man get you. On the other hand, if he can't seem to find the time, keep your head high and walk away. I may be old-fashioned, but I still think that in the early years of a relationship, a man takes the initiative. At the moment I don't work anywhere I'm still studying to be a lawyer.
