Top 5 myths about America
id: 10035045

Today I want to refute several popular delusions.
Check yourself - did you believe in them?!

1)There are a lot of overweighted people in the USA

Of course, there are overweighted people, but more often you can see quite slender, fit and athletic people. Here you can work out in an all-inclusive gym (pool, ring, new gym equipment, basketball courts and sections) for only $ 25 per month. This is a penny for Americans. When my friend just arrived to the United States, the first thing, in order to quickly adapt, she immediately signed up with her new friends at the gym. The first year she did not miss classes, but while she was walking she had to constantly communicate and contact with someone.

2) Solid skyscrapers

You can see them mainly in the city center. And when you drive off 3-4 stops below the center, you will be greeted by 1-2 storey buildings. Yes, and Americans still have a developed spirit of individualism and love of private property, so almost everyone here has their own plot with a house. And such private sectors stretch for tens of kilometers around any city.

3) Everyone eats fast food, there is no normal food

Yes, there are a lot of fast food restaurants here. Americans love fast food. But you can find any traditional dish from any country in the world. Where else can you find such a gastronomic geography? For example, even in San Diego, which has a rather small Russian-speaking community, there is a restaurant of Russian, Georgian, Ukrainian and Uzbek cuisine.

4) Americans treat Russians badly

Neither I, nor my acquaintances noticed that they were rudely treated here. When they find out that I am from Ukraine, they always tell about their friends from Russia or Ukraine. And I am often told that Putin is a very tough man, a strong leader, etc.

5) In America, you can take a home loan at 2%

If you've built the perfect credit history over the years, then perhaps yes. Your credit history is, in fact, an indicator of financial capacity and responsibility as a citizen. Just to come to the USA and take out a loan at 2% for a house the next day is not possible.

Well, how many points were unexpected for you?
