I work as a highly qualified professional engineer and I really love my job. But many did not take me seriously. The employers took me "weakly" naively believing that I can't do it just because I'm a woman. When discussing the details of the assignment and in personal meeting, some men do not miss the opportunity to note that “this is not a woman’s business”, that “the world is heading somewhere,” and the like.
It always makes me laugh, of course, but it's nice to see the surprise on their faces when the task is completed, and prove by example that stereotypical thinking is out of date. I'm happy that despite all the obstacles and skeptical views of me, was able to achieve its goal of being a good specialist in this field.
