Re: to create a new common language for all countries

Hello Ekaterina. While your idea for a new language sounds interesting, actually there has already been such an attempt at creating a new universal language, it’s called Esperanto. It didn’t quite catch on though because it’s an artificially created language so it can never compare to a language that naturally evolved over many centuries and imbibed many aspects of the nation’s culture, mentality, and history.

This is why instead, English is considered the lingua franca almost universally on our planet. It’s a language that evolved naturally, and it doesn’t have many complex elements like Chinese characters or cases or noun conjugation, so it’s considered easy to learn for speakers of most languages.

So, dear Ekaterina, you may consider your dream come true, there is already such a language in the world. It’s at the top of the list of the most commonly spoken languages: 1.2 billion people in the world speak it, followed closely by Mandarin, which is spoken by around 1.1 billion people. How do you feel about that? :)
