"When love is kindled in the heart of a person, then the one to whom the heart is directed with love, all glows with some kind of radiance. Everything in the world recedes into the background, becomes secondary – the soul is completely, sometimes to the point of ecstasy, immersed in the contemplation of the beloved being, who henceforth occupies, as it were, the main place in the world. The most dry and callous people change when love flares up in them, the soul softens and rejoices, as if it finds wings. A person who is loved by someone appears from the outside no better, no more beautiful than others, but to the loving eye he seems the only one, incomparable, irreplaceable. This is the "idealization" that we have already mentioned. The meaning of this idealization is that through the outer shell, in the light of love, we see the ideal side hidden for others, which is in every person, as the image of God, closed, and often suppressed by the outer shell – "character".
