Why do I like to travel? I can't imagine my life without traveling - without exploring new places or discovering the unknown in places I've been many times before.
Some people like to spend their free time reading books, or sitting in front of a TV screen, computer, or maybe in a good restaurant or at a card table, and I like to travel.
Of course, I like to read books, watch TV in the evening, sit at the computer, sometimes go to a restaurant, but travel... This is quite different.
It seems to me that my desire to travel began in my childhood with the program "Film Travel Club". My mother would put everything aside and sit comfortably in a chair to watch the show. Seeing with what interest my mother was watching, I also put down my games and settled down next to her. First, the host of the program was Vladimir Shneiderov. He talked very interestingly about cities, countries, and continents. Then the young and energetic Yuri Senkevich continued the work of Shneiderov and brought "the wind of his wanderings"to the programs. How many interesting people took part in the programs. Meetings with Jacques Cousteau opened the underwater kingdom. I wanted to go on a trip around the world with Fyodor Konyukhov, or to look for oases still preserved in the Sahara, to wade through impenetrable forests with Jacek Palkevich. But the biggest impression was left by the stories and documentaries in which Sienkiewicz himself participated with Thor Heyerdahl ... At this time, for me, TV became a window into the unknown and travel documentaries were much more interesting than feature films, and I dreamed of the day when I would be able to go on a trip.
Maybe I like to travel because at home there were many books about countries and continents, about nature, about people. Parents wrote out and saved magazines "Around the world". Reading these books and magazines, I wanted to see ancient excavations, walk through the halls of museums, see trees and flowers that did not grow in our climate, look at animals that you do not often see in a zoo, touch the mountains, seas and oceans.
Maybe I like to travel, because since childhood, my parents took me and my sister on vacation on trips. We rested on the Black Sea and on the Sea of Azov. But it was not only spending time on the beach, but also getting to know all the sights of the city or village where we stayed. We signed up for excursions, asked local residents about what is more interesting to see. I remember now a tour of the Great Crimean Canyon, the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, Chersonesos.
