Studies conducted at Wellesley College and the University of Kansas have shown interesting results. A person's eye movements differ depending on whether they are looking at the other person as a potential partner or as a friend.
The researchers analyzed the eye movements of 105 students (men and women) with traditional sexual orientation. They were shown photos of strangers. The subjects had to answer whether they would like a friendly or romantic relationship with the people in the photo.
It turned out that men, as a rule, most often look at the chest, waist and hips of a woman. It doesn't matter if they want to date her or just be friends. If a man hopes for a relationship with a woman, then he looks at her face longer.
A woman's gaze is most often focused on a man's chest or face, if she sees him as a potential soul mate.
If both a man and a woman want only a platonic relationship, then more often than usual they look at the legs and feet of another person.
