Many of us grew up with the conviction that the perfect couple is when two are always and in everything together. General interests, friends, hobbies, plans, dreams, even thoughts. Against the backdrop of films and books where love is shown as a complete merger, it seems: if you do not share absolutely everything, it means that something is wrong in the relationship. But is it really so?

“You react too sharply”, “Again you begin to worry about nonsense”, “Well, what are you so vulnerable?” - These phrases seem to be calm, but they leave inside the feeling of shame. For their feelings, emotions, tears, anxiety. Especially in love. Where, it would seem, to be real and sensitive should be safe. But why do we begin to fear precisely the part that makes us alive?

The script familiar to many: one person breaks into a relationship, as if falling in love with all his heart in three days - already dreams of joint trips, evenings, and keys from one apartment. And the other - as if slowing down, retreating a step, is in no hurry to say “we” instead of “I”. This does not necessarily mean that there are no feelings.

Love is about warmth, proximity and acceptance. But sometimes, behind the words “I love you”, something completely different is hidden: anxiety, control, an attempt to dissolve in a partner to the last cell. And then relations cease to be about two, about freedom and reciprocity - and turn into emotional suffocation. It is not always immediately clear where the border is. And today I want to calmly, without excesses, talk about it.

Sometimes words are not needed. We can be silent nearby and feel close. But there is another silence - cold, tense, anxious. It does not heal, but wounds. It does not allow to catch your breath, but accumulates a storm inside. And if silence becomes a familiar language in a couple, relationships begin to crack. Because silence is not just a lack of words. This is a way to speak ... without sound. And we, alas, often understand this language too painful.

Love is a seemingly safe space. Where you can be yourself, do not hide, do not pretend to be strong, if you want to cry, do not seem cheerful if it is sad. But in reality, even in close relationships, we often wear armor. We are afraid to say excess, show weakness, admit anxieties. And even the most warm feelings do not always save from fear of being vulnerable.

Sometimes I am asked: “Aren’t you tired of flying from place to place all the time?” And I always smile, because this question is like asking the sea if it is tired of being endless… ✈️

Together, they are the perfect union. Because one sees the goal, and the other sees everything that lies on the path to it.

Love is not the absence of difficulties. It is the desire to overcome them together.
